Our Story
We bought our first white female, Aristo Milady Theodora, on Valentine’s Day 2007. She came to us from Bolton, in Québec, when she was just 6 months old. Mid October that same year, we bought two more females: beige Aristo Shakespeare and brown Aristo Contessa EvoraBelle.
Over the course of the 2007-2008 winter, we cut down the trees that would be needed to build the farm so that we could, in the spring, cut them into planks, on the spot, using a portable sawmill (photos #1, 2 and 3). The alpaca’s shelter was built exclusively using lumber that came from our estate. Every single piece of wood used for the floors, as well as those used for the exterior, was first sent to the kiln and then to the molder to be grooved. 800 studs of 2” x 6” x 12’ (photo #4) were required to build the ground floor only! This structure was necessary in order to withstand the weight of the hay and sawdust used for litter that are stored on the first floor.
Our herd started really taking shape on 28th March 2008, when we bought 15 more alpacas (originally from Alberta) in order to vary our genetic lineage. All 15 of them boarded on another breeding farm in Bolton while we finished building our farm.
It’s in July 2008 that we started working on the main building (photos #5, 6 and 7). Bad weather led to delays in the construction work and it is only in the Fall of 2009 that the building was completed. We finished that year with a flourish, opening our shop directly on the Domaine des Nobles Alpagas and finally moving our alpacas on site. Nowadays, our herd consists of fifty to ninety alpacas at any given time.
