MMR Marcoyo

MMR Marcoyo, our very first breeding male. Although this male passed away several years ago, his remarkable genetics continue to play an important role in our breeding program and the North American industry.

Of Peruvian origin and descended from the famous Victor's Vaccoyo and Jolimont Peruvian Marcella, he was described by Janie Hicks, an Australian fiber researcher, as having a "step ahead" structure which represents what progressive breeders are looking for. With an athletic conformation, Marcoyo transmitted to the fleeces of his offspring an incredible architecture, superior length and remarkable density.

Only 2 of his daughters were exported to the United States. One of them, Qolmesa Crystal, started competing at 15 months old and has won a Judge's Choice and 4 championships in some of the most competitive competitions, namely The Futurity and the AOBA Nationals. Even today, his descendants (although several generations after him) continue to shine in competition. He is the great-grandfather of "Judge's Choice" Gilbratar of FJA and behind "Judge's Choice" among females in the 2023 Buckeye Fall Classic. Given that only 2 of his descendants were exported to the United States, he certainly left his mark on the industry…

For several years, one of the goals of our program was to produce a worthy successor to this exceptional male. This goal was set aside and forgotten in the years following his death. By sheer unexpected luck, a male named Noble Altitude of DNA was born in August 2023 to his only remaining daughter in our program. Altitude resembles Marcoyo in every way, whether in terms of conformation or traits of his fleece. Have we finally found a real replacement?
